Terms of Service
Effective 7 October 2026
Monré van der Nest, 67 Grace Avenue, Murrayfield, Pretoria, South Africa, trading as Big4CFO ("we", "us"). Contact: info@big4cfo.com.
These Terms are written in English, and the English version governs if any translation differs.
1. What we provide
Big4CFO is software. It reads financial records you give it access to and produces written reports. Every figure is calculated by our software; no person acts as your accountant or CFO.
One-time reports: you upload bank statements (PDF) or an Excel or CSV export and receive a report — $49 (one month), $99 (three months) or $199 (twelve months). Each includes what the pricing page lists for it when you buy, and an Excel workbook of the figures.
Monthly plans: we connect read-only to your accounting system and send a report every month — Foundational ($349), Growth ($599), Leverage ($899) and Capital Stack ($1,999) per month — each including what the pricing page lists for that plan when you subscribe. Monthly plans include an interactive online report and a goals page in your account.
2. What our checks mean, and what they do not
- One-time reports: every PDF statement must add up — opening balance plus money in, minus money out, equals the closing balance — before we use it. An Excel or CSV file has no balances to check, and the report says so.
- Monthly plans: before a report is sent, every transaction in your books must account exactly for the balances your accounting system reports for your bank, card, receivable and payable accounts, with no difference allowed on bank or card. If the books do not tie, the report is held, not sent, and we tell you what needs fixing.
- We check figures; we do not audit them. Our reports are not an audit, a review, an assurance engagement, or tax, investment or legal advice, and they do not replace your bookkeeper, accountant or auditor. Findings point to what is worth checking; they are not instructions.
- We work only from what you give us or what your accounting system exposes. We cannot see transactions that were never recorded, cash held elsewhere, or agreements not yet in your books.
3. Read-only
We never write to your bank or your accounting system. Monthly plans connect read-only through Merge, a connection service; you sign in to your accounting system yourself, and we never see your password.
4. Payment
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Prices are in US dollars. Paddle calculates any sales tax or VAT at checkout based on where you are: in some countries it is added to the price shown, in others it is included in it. Businesses that give a valid VAT number are not charged VAT where the law allows.
5. Monthly plans: billing and cancelling
- Plans renew monthly until cancelled. Paying does not by itself start reports: your first report is sent once your books tie (section 2).
- If a payment fails, Paddle retries it, and your plan continues while it does.
- You can cancel at any time from Manage billing on your account page, or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for.
- To change plan, email info@big4cfo.com; the change and any price difference are handled through Paddle.
6. Refunds
Every payment carries a 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. See our Refund Policy.
7. Your data
How we handle your documents and figures is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Aggregate figures. We may add findings from your reports — statement errors, discrepancies and margin identified — into public totals, summed and anonymised. Your business is never named, never shown on its own, and never identifiable, and no total is published until at least five customers have contributed. You can opt out at any time by emailing info@big4cfo.com; your contributions are removed from the next update.
8. Your responsibilities
You confirm you are authorised to share the documents you upload and to connect the accounting system you connect, and that you will not upload anything you are not entitled to share.
9. Liability
Our reports are tools to help you look at your own figures. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make using our reports. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes are emailed to monthly customers at least 30 days before they take effect.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. This does not take away any rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
