Cash flow forecasting
Know where your cash will be, week by week, for the next 13 weeks
A business can be profitable on paper and still run out of cash. A 13-week cash flow forecast is the tool finance teams use to see that coming: short enough to be accurate, long enough to act on.
Big4CFO builds one for you every month, from your own books, and shows the weaker case beside it so the forecast is never mistaken for a promise.
What the forecast is built from
- Invoices your customers have not paid yet, on the dates they are due
- Bills you have not paid yet, on their due dates
- Your regular costs — payroll, rent, subscriptions and everything else — at your average over the last three months, every week
- New sales at your recent monthly average, arriving only after your actual collection time
Each of those figures is stated in the report, so you can see exactly what the forecast assumes. Loan repayments, tax and one-off purchases are not guessed at, and the report says so.
Three paths, not one number
The expected case sits between a slower case, where customers pay 20% less than expected, and a faster one. For each you see the closing cash, the lowest point in the thirteen weeks, and the first week cash would go below zero, if it does.
Why a forecast built on reconciled books matters
A forecast is only as good as the balance it starts from. Before any report is produced, Big4CFO checks that every transaction in your books accounts for the balances your accounting system reports — bank and card accounts to the cent. If the books do not tie, the report is held and you are told what needs fixing, rather than being handed a forecast built on a wrong starting figure.
What it costs
The forecast is part of every monthly plan. Monthly plans start at $349 a month (Foundational), with Growth at $599, Leverage at $899 and Capital Stack at $1,999. The $199 one-time report includes a three-month cash outlook built from twelve months of bank statements.
Questions
- Why 13 weeks?
- It is a quarter, broken into weeks. Weekly detail catches the payroll week that dips below zero; a quarter is long enough to arrange finance or chase invoices before it arrives.
- Does the forecast change my books?
- No. Big4CFO only ever reads your books. It never writes anything back to your accounting system or your bank.
- Is the forecast a guarantee?
- No. It is arithmetic on your own figures, labelled as an estimate, with a slower case beside it. Nobody can promise when customers will pay.
