Monthly management accounts for UK small businesses, checked to the penny
Most UK small businesses keep their books in Xero, Sage or QuickBooks, file VAT through Making Tax Digital, and still go months without a clear picture of profit and cash. Big4CFO reads those books and produces the monthly pack, in pounds sterling.
Built around how UK books are kept
VAT you collect is owed to HMRC: it sits on your balance sheet as a liability and never counts as profit. The 13-week forecast says plainly that VAT payments are not in it, so you know to allow for your next quarter. Reports are in GBP throughout.
Xero and QuickBooks Online connect read-only. Sage 50 and desktop systems work by uploading your reports.
What you get, every month
- A one-line verdict on the month, then what needs your attention, ranked by money at stake
- Leak checks: possible duplicate payments, supplier charges that keep rising, fees, overdue invoices — each with the transactions behind it
- Profit levers on your own figures: what 1% on price, 1% off costs or faster collection is worth
- A 13-week cash flow forecast with a slower case beside it
- Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statement, plus an Excel workbook and an interactive report
Two ways in
Connect your accounting system read-only, or upload your profit and loss and balance sheet (or general ledger) as Excel, CSV or PDF. Every month is checked to add up to the cent before you see it. Add your bank statements too and the month is tied to your bank to the cent.
One-time reports cost $49 (one month), $99 (three months) or $199 (twelve months). Monthly plans start at $349 a month (Foundational), with Growth at $599, Leverage at $899 and Capital Stack at $1,999. Prices are in US dollars; tax is calculated at checkout for where you are.
What it does not do
It is reporting software. It does not prepare or file tax returns, and nothing in it is tax or accounting advice. It reads the books your bookkeeper or accountant keeps and shows what is worth a closer look.
Questions
- Does it file my VAT return?
- No. Your VAT return is filed through your accounting software or your accountant under Making Tax Digital. Big4CFO reports on the books those returns come from.
- Is my report in pounds?
- Yes. Every report is in the currency your books are kept in.
